Wading at Leighton Moss

Mute Swans swimming across the causeway at Leighton Moss.
A few photos from a visit to a flooded Leighton Moss just before Christmas. Quite an experience wading through the surprisingly deep water thankfully the RSPB staff warned me beforehand that all the hides were inaccessible without wellingtons.

Flooded woodland just before Lower Hide. Unfortunately with the water level at the top of my wellies it was time to turn back. View back along the causeway with the Public Hide on the right hand side. Water level approximately 30cm above the footpath.
Partially submerged hedgehog home. Flooded footpaths to Grisedale and Tim Jacksons Hide
Not looking good for Spike. Flooded hedgehog box close to Lilians Hide. 245m of wading to the Grisedale Hide or 55m to Tim Jackson Hide. A kayak would have been helpful
Nuthatch Female Great Spotted Woodpecker
Nuthatch looking for trouble. Female Great Spotted Woodpecker with a male in close proximity.
Another Marsh Tit Treecreeper
Another Marsh Tit in an Elder at the edge of the reedbeds. Treecreeper one of several seen in the woodland.
