{"id":217,"date":"2011-09-16T14:11:00","date_gmt":"2011-09-16T14:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/naturalbornblogger.co.uk\/?p=217"},"modified":"2020-04-02T20:39:38","modified_gmt":"2020-04-02T20:39:38","slug":"autumn-glory-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/naturalbornblogger.co.uk\/?p=217","title":{"rendered":"Autumn Glory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Great to discover a small clump of Devil\u2019s Bit Scabious whilst out with the <em>gorgeous and excitable Jake<\/em> \u2013 (description c\/o Manchester Dog\u2019s Home).<\/p>\n<p>150 years ago Devils Bit Scabious, Green Winged Orchids, Adders Tongue Ferns, Moschatel etc. were relatively common on the floodplains of the River Mersey around Chorlton and Disbury. However since then the river has been canalised, gravel extracted to allow for the construction of roads with almost all of the resulting pits being filled with household waste and rubble from the slum clearances. (a well known haunt of Lesser Spotted Woodpecker).
