Better late than never.<\/p>\n<p>Several years ago the sound of the Grasshopper Warbler reeling away at dawn and\u00a0dusk\u00a0could be heard\u00a0throughout the\u00a0Mersey valley. However, in more recent times they simply\u00a0haven&#8217;t returned to their former territories\u00a0in south Manchester. Fortunately this year the situation is slightly\u00a0more optimistic with this\u00a0bird found at Millgate Fields in Didsbury.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\u00a0<a title=\"DSC_3164\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ianworsley\/34398681542\/in\/photostream\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/5\/4157\/34398681542_2c5859f84a_c.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_3164\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>If unfamiliar with the\u00a0song of the male Grasshopper Warbler check out its distinctive call\u00a0at\u00a0Xeno-canto. Commonly described\u00a0as &#8220;reeling&#8221; it sounds remarkably similar to a\u00a0fishing reel.
