Great to see several large drifts of Pyramid Orchids amongst the dunes. At this time of year by far the most common of the various Orchids living within the National Nature Reserve.

A very good year for Bee Orchids especially on the northern and western facing slopes of the sand dunes.

The far rarer Dune Helleborine restricted to the coastal dunes of Wales and NW England. Despite the flowers not yet appearing the “sickly” looking narrow leaves are a diagnostic feature. Fairly common especially within the Dune slacks. Surprisingly they can be difficult to find amongst the dwarf willows and the rest of the vegetation.
