Sparrowhawk

A few photo’s of a juvenile Sparrowhawk that’s been visiting our garden on and off throughout the winter.

Nothing quite like a stare from a Sparrowhawk. For several other garden visitors probably the last thing they ever see.

On its most recent visit surprising to see just how relaxed the young hawk was. Sitting on the rear fence enjoying a bit of early spring sunshine preening and picking its talons clean.

Following the dispersal of the Siskins and flocks of mixed Tits from the local woodlands I suspect we’ll be seeing a bit more of the Sparrowhawk. On this occasion harassed by a Magpie the young hawk eventually flew off and landed on an ivy covered fence disappearing from view.
