Salford Quays, not the typical location you’d normally expect to find an over-wintering Great Northern Diver.
More commonly found off the northern and western coast of Scotland this one appears to have taken a liking to the various basins that make up Salford Quays.
With a plentiful supply of fish the Great Northern Diver may stay around until March before heading back north to its breeding grounds in Iceland.
An attractive and unusual visitor to Manchester. Hopefully it’ll hang about long enough to change into its full breeding plumage.
