Despite the dry weather plenty of fungi appearing on the woodland floor. Unfortunately many of them appeared to have been half eaten or crushed. Probably the result of the local deer. |

Common Carder Bee
Unfortunately with the decline of traditionally managed wet meadows the Devil’s Bit Scabious has become increasingly rare. Within the adjacent Kilwood Nature Reserve they appear to be thriving in a woodland clearing possibly the location of a spoil heap from a long gone limekiln. |
