El Acebuche

Heading south from El Rocio a quick visit to the El Acebuche Visitor Centre.

Unfortunately on this occasion it was closed however plenty of Iberian or what used to be known as Azure-winged Magpies around the car park. Great to see several recently fledged youngsters.

Iberian Magpie – an adult.

Two young Iberian Magpies sheltering from the mid-day sun in the Stone Pine forest.

Good to see the Storks nesting on the top of the visitor centre. Also to be found on every roadside telegraph pole and pylon throughout the area.

Iberian Water Frog

With a distinctive yellow stripe along its back one of the easier frogs to identify. In the evenings the call can be heard for miles as it carries across the marshes.
