Misty, Morning Hop

Mute Swan, Chorlton Water Park

A beautiful, peaceful morning in mid April. Cold, misty and with the sun just about breaking above the horizon the promise of another glorious day. The contrast with the horror of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic could hardly be stronger.

Towards the eastern end of the lake the lack of disturbance from the children’s play area has encouraged the resident Swans to nest along the edge of the reedbed.

Emerging out of the mist .

Heaven knows what the male Swan made of the bright orange ball bobbing along the edge of the lake. Head down and swimming towards us it didn’t seem impressed. Meghan certainly had the sense to stay back.

No sign of eggs just yet but unlikely to be long.
