Brave, new world

Great Crested Grebes, Chorlton Water Park

Good to finally see the young Great Crested Grebes leaving the nest. This particular youngster was being given a tour of the eastern end of the lake.

Unsure if it was just nerves but definitely not going quietly.

A bit of reassurance and they were off.

Surprising to see another adult approach followed by a brief display of courtship behaviour. Probably the female cementing the pair’s bond.

Reed Warbler, Chorlton Water Park

Elusive as ever at least 1 Reed Warbler has been present since the 3rd week in March. Offering only brief glimpses as it moves rapidly through the mass of stems the call of the male Reed Warbler is unmistakable.
