Approaching the Valley of the Rocks from the coast path. Although it looks like a nice day we could barely stand up with a south-westerly gale blowing in straight from the Atlantic and onto the 500ft high cliff face immediately below.
With the dry valley being one of the more spectacular locations on the SW Coast path the area appeared to be incredibly popular with large areas of the valley dominated by car parks.
Plenty of goats to keep the visitors entertained.

An unimpressed Meghan.
Strangely enough I felt similar – after visiting other locations within Exmoor difficult to understand the appeal of a dry, rocky valley visited by thousands. Perhaps it was the howling gale or just the contrast with so many other more tranquil places.
Sea Campion growing on the cliff face.
Slightly surprising that the flora wasn’t more diverse. Presumably the goats grazed away the more interesting species.
